"Are you finding you have pain in your elbow? Known as tennis elbow. Actually that's tendinitis and it comes from using the smaller ligaments and tendons around the elbow rather than using your entire arm and shoulder muscles. Now this can cause swelling and can cause pain. So one of the most important things in Yoga anyway is your posture and awareness of what your body is doing. So we need to use both of those when we want to address the tendinitis problem. You want to have your shoulders back and your back strong and tall because if we slump forward, then that's putting more pressure on these muscles and not using the muscles of the shoulder in the proper way. Now what we can do is just to become aware is to tense. You're probably not going to be able to see mine but if you just stand in mountain pose with proper posture and alignment, squeeze your forearms, just tense your forearms and then release them. And practice that just a few times and then squeeze through your upper arms and through the biceps and triceps and release those. Feel the effects that has on your shoulder. Feel the effects that has on your elbow and your forearm. So it's awareness. So we want to become aware so that we can use the stronger, or larger muscles of the body rather than using the weaker, smaller muscles. Which ends up causing us to have muscle pain. I'm Cindy Mastry. Namaste."
