Series Summary

Though many forms of martial arts rely solely on body throwing and hand-to-hand combat, there are several versions that make use of sparring and weaponry. Through the use of both traditional and modern weaponry, martial arts enthusiasts can engage their opponents through grappling and fights that test the student's proficiency with a hand-held weapon. Instruments such as bows, spears, swords and katars are often used in these types of martial art contests. Kung fu students learn the history behind the weapons and how the various types of instruments once used in day-to-day life became fighting utensils as they journey through their martial arts education. Get martial arts weapons fighting techniques in this free video series on martial arts weaponry featuring kung fu instructor Devin Boddie. Boddie demonstrates how to use the nunchaku, pole, broad sword and Escrima sticks. Learn nunchaku techniques for defending and striking, as well as defense moves with the broad sword and Escrima sticks.
