In many parts of the world, motorcycles are among the least expensive, most widespread forms of motorized transport, and in some Western countries, motorcycles have even inspired close-knit subcultures of biking enthusiasts who ride a range of different motorcycles. There is a wide variety of motorcycles on the road today, including choppers, sport bikes, motocross bikes, street bikes, and touring motorcycles. Within the different types of motorcycles, there lay the same basic components--chassis, frame, suspension, engine, brakes, rotors, tires and more--all of which may require maintenance at some time or another. In this free video series on motorcycle repairs, let a motorcycle mechanic explain how to remove and install brakes and rotors. First get all the necessary tools to start and complete the job, get instructions on how to properly lift a motorbike and use a front wheel stand. Next, he discusses removing the motorcycle brakes calipers, the front wheel and the rotors. The next step is replacing the rotors and brake pads, reinstalling the front wheel and calipers and checking the brakes and brake fluid.
"Alright, today, we're going to be doing a brake job on a '06 Jixer 600. We're going to show everybody what it takes to do rotor replacement, brake pad replacement, everything you need to know from the tools to the parts to the brake cleaners. Everything you need to know how to do it on the Jixer. So first, right here, these are the new rotors that we're going to be using to replace. Just simple rotors and you can get them anywhere from any motorcycle store. These are the brake pads, now when, when it comes to brake pads you got to make sure that you get the proper brake pad for the bike that you're working on because every bike is different, they're, none of them are the same. In this case, EBC brake pads, this is what we're going to be using to replace. Now normally most bikes are all different, but in this case, these are all the tools that I'm going to need. You're going to need an Allen Wrench to remove fenders, and to release the pads from the calipers, you're going to need all your different sockets and wrenches and everything. Just little, kind of tools you need to take off all the bolts and free everything up so you can get in there and do what you need to do. For the end, when you're all done and everything's back together, and you got brake cleaner, this will help you clean everything up, this'll help you get, make sure everything's working properly, and this is the Bleeder Kit. This removes all the old brake fluid, and basically gets all the bubbles out of the system, so there's no accidents or anything. This is everything you need to do a brake job completely from beginning to end, and it always helps to have a Lift and one of these stands. This stand right here is a Front stand for a Suzuki, if you don't have one of these, you're going to need a, like a car jack and piece of wood, but in this case, we're just going to use this. This is everything that you need."
