"You know few things in life can be as scary as becoming a rape victim. Hi I'm Captain Joe Bruni and what we are going to talk about is how to avoid becoming a rape victim. Most rape victims the crime occurs by somebody that has known the victim or is familiar with the victim. The key is to be aware of your surroundings at all times. Park in well lit areas, if you don't feel right about a situation or uneasy, quickly remove yourself from that situation. If you feel you are being followed, quickly cross the street to the other side and make as much noise as possible. When going to your parked vehicle, or your house, always carry your keys in your open hand. This will enable you to gain access to the vehicle or the residence quickly, and the keys can also be used as a weapon, many times into the eye or across the bridge of the nose. It is very common for many people to abandon their drink when they go out to a bar or some type of club setting. Never abandon your drink, as many times drugs such as ruphenol or ghb can be placed into the drink which could render you unconscious and make you an easy target. One of the keys to avoiding becoming a rape victim is first and foremost, be aware of your surroundings at all times, and if you feel uneasy remove yourself from the situation as quickly as possible. I'm Captain Joe Bruni, stay safe and we'll see you next time."
