"You know, reducing pollution is one of the ways, that as individuals, we can all learn to go green, in today's society. Hi, I'm Captain Joe Bruni, and one of the things that we want to discuss and talk about, is how to reduce water pollution. The water that we know, normally goes away from water usage, and one of two types of systems. The Sanitary Sewer System is what takes our sewage, and carries it to a treatment facility somewhere, where the wastewater can be treated, and turned into harmless water, once again, to be used for other purposes, such as watering lawns, or disposed of properly, without pollution. The other type of system is the sewage system, that is the Catch Basin System, along our nation's roadways, that gather storm water runoff, and carries it into our nation's lakes, rivers, ponds, streams, and groundwater. Remember, when you pollute the ground, you pollute our planet. Using things like pesticides and chemicals, on our lawns or on our ground, pollute groundwater, and adds to the runoff problem. When you see a cigarette butt along a Catch Basin Grade, remember, that cigarette butt eventually finds it's way into our groundwater, and pollutes our environment. Waste from pets, or their stool waste, is another way that pollution takes place in our water runoff. By eliminating some of these sources, and being careful how we dispose of our chemicals, such as paints, solvents, varnishes, and things along those lines, will pay off in the long run, when it comes to water pollution in our groundwater, lakes, rivers, and ponds. Stay safe, and we'll see you next time, again. I'm Captain Joe Bruni."
