"You know, preparing a victim of an accident or an injury for transportation or transport to a local hospital or medical facility is a very important maneuver that should be learned by people that are going to maneuv, maneuver, or move people that have been victims. Hi, I'm Captain Joe Bruni, and what we're going to talk about is how to logroll a patient that has a suspected spinal injury, for transport to a medical facility or hospital. Normally, this procedure would take a minimum of three individuals or three rescuers. The first rescuer would maintain cervical spine control by placing both hands on each side of the head. Another rescuer would be located somewhere up in the abdominal area, and the sec, and the third rescuer would be located somewhere down near the hip, thigh, or pelvic region area. We would maintain spinal control, and bring our spine board or long board in place alongside the patient and lay it flat. We would then logroll the patient on the count of three; one, two, three, roll them over; maintaining spine control, place the board underneath, and then roll them back; maintaining spine control at all times, and then buckle them in place, to be lifted and transported to the medical facility or hospital. Maintaining control of that spinal or cervical region is very important with suspected spinal cord injury, to avoid paralysis. I'm Captain Joe Bruni. Stay safe, and we'll see ya' next time."
