"You know, during the warmer months, when we step outside for recreation for any activity, one of the things that continually plagues us is the common mosquito. Hi, I'm Captain Joe Bruni and what we're going to talk about is how to avoid mosquito's biting. There's a few steps that can be taken to have mosquito's avoid us as human beings. One of the first is to wear light colored clothing. Mosquito's are attracted more to dark colors than light colors. You can also takes steps like tucking the pant legs into the socks, wearing long sleeves, tucking the shirt tail in, and even wearing a hat with possible ear flaps. Some other considerations, as far as mosquito's repellents go, would be something, as simple as, treating the clothing with a chemical known as Permithren. Permithren is not meant to be used on the skin, like your typical mosquito repellent, it's meant as a clothes treatment only. Keep in mind, spraying around the ankles and the wrist areas and even around the waist. If you choose to use a mosquito repellent, one that contains Deet, are the common ones out there and available to us in the United States. You can also think about using some of the skin care products that are available out there that also help to repel mosquito's. Every year mosquito's plague most of us as we go out to find things to do and have recreation. I'm Captain Joe Bruni, these few simple steps can help you avoid being bitten by the common mosquito.
