"In this clip we're going to go over some of the island influences on the rhythms of the New Orleans piano styles. Most specifically, some of the chromatic approaches that you hear in some Cuban and Latin music. Now when New Orleans pianists applied this to the Blues concept, the Blues went from (Demo) to something more like (Demo). And, what that pretty much entails, is the use of the 6th note, as well as the 5 to get a driving rhythm. And then when you went to the 4 chord, you could go up chromatically, all the while your left hand is rooted in a steady rhythm. (Demo) So, put all together, it comes out something like (Demo)."
