"In the telecommunications or telemarketing field there are pros and cons and there are good things and bad things. Some of the bad things with a lot of people there is a stigma if you have watched TV shows or have ever done it ourself, customers when you call them they will often be upset because you are interrupting their dinner, interrupting whatever time that they have because they get off work and the last thing they want to do is talk to someone about this, that and the other. So that is one of the negative things is you will constantly be trying to break through peoples' barriers and also in the inbound customer service that is one of the negative things as well because customers are calling you because they have a problem so a lot of times they are going to be already upset or already in a bad mood because whatever service you are offering them or doing customer services for is not working to their satisfaction so that is one of the negative things you do have to take. It can get I guess boring or repetitive so you will be doing the same thing over and over. Customers may have the same problem, customers may have the same, they may be going through the same thing so that can be repetitive and that can be tedious. Also with the outbound, you are constantly offering the same thing, you are constantly talking to the upset customer, you are constantly interrupting them so those are some of the negative things. You are usually in a cubicle and sometimes depending on the job you can decorate it or not and some of the positive aspects in being in telecommunications or a telemarketer. If you enjoy talking to people you will meet all sorts of individuals. Some people will want to talk to you about this and that and all sorts of things that you wouldn't expect. If you are in the customer service field it is great to be able to assist customers and help them fix their problems. They call because something is not working because they haven't been able to get resolution from one of your co-workers to help them or was rude to them, you are able to solve their problem and help them. Within the telecommunication and telemarketing fields there is opportunity for advancement and you can always move up to be a team leader or supervisor or an operations manager as your skills increase and your knowledge of the business increases so some of the great things about that is there is a lot of opportunity for growth and the skills you learn at one call center you can use to advance in another call center if you move or if your needs aren't being met at your current position, you can move, there are various call centers. Typically in a college town there are always multiple call centers that you can use your skills in if one call center you have expanded and there is no opportunity any further but those are some of the great things about being a telemarketer."
