"My name is Deanna Gutierrez and I'm a high school teacher in San Jose. In San Jose starting salary begins anywhere from 29 to 30 thousand. And increases depending on how many units you have post a bachelor's degree. So with every year that you teach it goes up five to 10 percent. If you're bilingual that's also a big plus. In some schools, especially the public charter schools, you'll get a starting bonus of about $5000 each year on top of your normal salary. Other ways that you can increase your salary are getting credentials in multiple subjects. Especially high need areas like math and science. And also if you have any interest in coaching you will also get an extra stipend for that. My name is Deanna Gutierrez and I'm a high school teacher in San Jose."
