"Hi, my name is Ashley Ludman from Seaside Yoga here today to tell you a little bit about ashtangayoga. Ashtanga yoga is a from of hatha yoga that was developed by Patabi Joyce and it involves six sequences or six series of postures. It's a style of yoga that is highly athletic and highly vigorous in its form. In the beginning, you'll start with series one which encompasses some sun salutation sequences which goes through posture to posture, creating heat and creating preparation for the body to hold postures for five, up to ten, up to fifteen breaths after the initial warm up of the sun salutations. After a practitioner successfully goes through the first series, he will then go on to the second series and so on. So, ashtangayoga yoga, in and of itself, is a vigorous practice and it's a practice based on vanyosa, which means you're connecting your movement and postures with that of the breath. After the series of sun salutations, you'll then hold postures and continue down the sequence and the series of each series. Up to the six series if you make it that far. That's ashtangayoga."
