"Hi my name is Ashley Ludman with Seaside Yoga, here to talk to you about becoming Certified in Pilates. So with the increased awareness of Pilates as an exercise modality, we have many people who are, are interested in pursuing this a professional path. Couple of sources that I would recommend going to, one is the Pilates Method Alliance. This is board that is, is encouraging registration or certification programs. And they will have a lot of information on their website, that's pilatesmethodalliance, I believe it's dot org. And if you're interested in pursuing specific paths of Pilates, so may you have the Mat Ceritifications and you can gain Mat Certifications of various levels through programs such as AFFA or NEDITA or any of the main fitness professional education sites. I actually went through the Physical Mind Institute and was very satisfied with that program. There are also other professional educators such as, Stott Pilates which is based out of Canada. They also have training facilities all over the country. You may find someone locally whose interested in educating you on the mat work or equipment or both, but the biggest thing is to; one, have your own personal practise in Pilates and understand how your body moves before you start pursuing a professional certification. Certifications can take as little as one weekend to through a Level I Mat Certification, up to a year or more if you are interested in studying the equipment work as well, in addition to the, into the mat work. So good luck on your journey and that's how you become certified to teach Pilates."
