"Hi, I'm Rick Wilder from Portland Oregon, here at Thursday night motocross. Former team green rider for Kawasaki back in the 1980's. I want to talk to you a little bit about the rules of motocross. As you may or may not know, the rules of motocross basically are the same as the rules of auto racing. For example Nascar, where people compete against each other, versus against the time. The important part about the rules is that we all follow them, and that we include the safety aspect of the rules. The green flag is go, the checker flag is finish, white flag means one lap. Whenever the caution flag is out, that's a yellow flag. That means there's something ahead of you that's either a problem, or potential problem, and you got to pay attention to that. Riders passing over the yellow flag, they get docked a lap or two. Riders passing on a red flag, they get to go home that night. So basically the rules of motocross, are the same rules as Nascar or any car racing, things like that, where we have to take safety into consideration, it's very important. We have referees that monitor the facility throughout each race, so that we're racing in a safe environment, and that we're following the rules, but yet we're still competing and having a great time doing it. For more information about the rules, go to your local book store, or check your website, or again, go to a local motorcycle dealership."
