"Hi my name is Tyler Reel. I am a professional motocross racer from Portland, Oregon and I am here today to give you a few motocross racing tips. Beginning with the start you don't want to be sitting too far back because you will have the rest go wheeling and losing the momentum down the start stretch. The idea is to have the best reaction time to get the best jump out of the gate and make it to the first corner first. That way you have clear track in front of you and you don't have to deal with other riders. Coming out of the first corner you want to get your bike upright, standing up and you want to be in attack position ready for whatever obstacle comes next whether it's a jump or a rhythm section or maybe another tight corner. If you are approaching a jump you want to be standing up on the foot pegs in attack position, keeping steady throttle for a smooth take off. If it is another corner, remain in attack position, brake as late as possible, lean and roll on the throttle. If it's a rhythm section which is a series of small or big jumps, bumps or any obstacle the first thing you want to do is take the straightest line to the end. You stand up, feet on the pegs in attack position and be smooth on the throttle all the way. Once you get going and in your rhythm the idea is to carry the most momentum and to find the smoothest way around the track avoiding braking bumps and holes to be as consistent as possible. You want to try to get faster in every lap to either increase positions or just to pull away from the pack."
