Summary: Phantom power is an extra supply of power that the Pro Tools Control 24 has for every track and is able to send to a microphone that has no internal power supply. Send a microphone phantom power with the click of a button using tips from an experienced recording engineer in this free video.
"The first thing I'm going to talk to you about is phantom power. Phantom power is basically forty-eight volts that powers up your microphone. Some microphones already have a power source within it or they work off something else but most mics they work of off forty-eight volts that you need to supply to it in order to make it work. On the control twenty-four, it has twenty-four mic pre-amps that give phantom power. On the back there's a button that you can press that assigns phantom power, you'll know you have phantom power when these light up. These two phantom banks light up, that means for these eight tracks that they all have phantom power, so as long as I have, whatever mics I have plugged into the back, for these sixteen tracks, are all going to be working. And it's all going to supply a sound into my mixer, so when I record I just have to assign the input of my track to the track that I'm recording, from, and I shouldn't get a signal, it's very, it's very simple just tor record, arm the track, and make sure you select and make sure you select the right mic input by hitting the source right about the track. You can switch from mic, line, negative ten."
