Not only is picking the right board for you important but what you are riding with is also just as important. To protect your eyes you probably want to grab a nice pair of goggles. Depending on the conditions, you may want numerous pairs of goggles but a Persimmon lens is probably going to be your safest bet for all conditions. You want to protect your head. I suggest going out and buying a ski or snowboarding helmet. Do not use a bike helmet, football helmet or any other sort of helmet like that. You are going to be falling on your wrists a lot when you are learning and again you probably want to go out and grab a pair of wrist guards. You want to save this right here so get some of those impact shorts. I wish they had them when I was learning and then not only what you are wearing but where you are riding is also very important. If you rate yourself as a #1 skier you probably want to stay on the bunny slope or a green circle, if you are feeling confident on the board then hopping up to a level 2, stay on a blue square, probably blue squares and green circles and if you feel like you can control the board and the board is not controlling you then a black diamond or the double black or the freestyle back is your playground.
