"The next piece of safety gear, I'm going to be talking to you about, is wrist guards. When you're learning to snowboard, you're going to fall a lot, so the only other thing to keep in mind, other than not to get frustrated, and to have fun with it, is you're going to want something to absorb all the impact, that your wrists are going to take, and wrist guards are the perfect solution for that problem. They fit almost like a glove, but they have a piece of very stiff plastic, running along the palm of your hand, and basically, that's supposed to take the brunt of the force, when you fall down. People catch their toeside edge all the time, when learning how to snowboard, and in fact, a lot of people, even do The Falling Leaf down the mountain, when they don't know how to carve, or turn properly, and that is the ultimate time for wrist injuries to happen. A wrist injury is probably one of the most common types of injuries, in snowboarding, and the best way to protect yourself from that, is to go out and get a pair of wrist pads, like the ones shown on the slide."
