"Okay so I'm almost finished repairing this garment for my daughter. I've sewn on the button and it's the kind of button that has the hole through the back of the button. We tied it off. It's real nice and tight now. It's not going to fall off. But this was the kind of garment that had a loop that went around the button. And this was kind of stretchy. It was no big deal that it was stretchy but it just broke and that's what these stretchy things, they just break so easy. I'm going to make one out of a chain stitch with thread. And I'm going to show you how to do that. Though first thing I'm need to do. I'm just going to go ahead and cut this off. I don't even need it so I'm going to snip it. And this is like where it had been sewn on. I'm not even worried about that. It's going to be underneath. Nobody is going to see it. So I'm going to show you how to thread your needle in order to make that thick chain stitch. And it's not just like how I did this button. Instead of just one piece of thread going through the eye I'm going to put two pieces of thread going through the eye. So I want to make it a little bit extra long. Maybe like four or five feet? Let me cut it. And what I'm going to do I'm going to get the thread and meet end to end so they're just like this. Just squeeze them together. Get your needle and get ready and what I'm going to do, I'm going to lick the ends. And it just makes it fit right through the eye of the needle really good. And if you're having trouble getting it through the eye get a bigger needle. Get something with a bigger eye. They have lots of needles with really big eyes so you don't have to worry about fighting it to get it in. There's no need for that. Okay so now I have instead of just two pieces? I have four pieces of thread and it's really thick. And I'm going to go down here and I'm going to tie a knot. The little square knot. And I'm going to do another one. I like to keep a lot of knots in my stuff so it doesn't come apart. And I'm going to trim it off about 1/4 of an inch from the bottom. There we go. And in the next clip I'm going to show you how to do a chain stitch. And it's like a real thick piece of thread that's going to loop around this and keep it closed. And I'll show you how to do that in the next clip."
