"In this segment, we're going to cover removing the distributor cap, and plug wires. We're going to pull the cap and wires off. That gives us accessibility, to see the distributor rotor, and that will tell us, if we're on top dead center, cylinder number one. We could check and see if the rotor is pointing at the number one position on the distributor cap, and that will give us good verification, that we found top dead center, on cylinder number one, because it's a four cycle engine. You can very easily reach top dead center of the piston, but you're not on the firing stroke,so an easy way to verify that, is through the location of the distributor rotor, and then we can also verify that, when we remove the valve cover, and we see the cam positions. The distributor cap is fastened on with either eight millimeter head or a Phillips Head, that uses three screws, two in the top, one on the bottom. We're going to leave the plug wires attached, and remove the plug wires from down through the valve cover. They have to be removed to give us accessibility, and this keeps them all together. We won't have to worry about mixing up the firing order. I'm using a eight millimeter method, just because, I found it stays on there a little bit easier, and I'll go around and break all three of them free, and then remove them one at a time. Once I've got the three screws removed, I'm just going to simply slide the distributor cap out, and I'll lay it aside. Now, we need to remove the plug wires. The first thing you want to do, instead of just grabbing and yanking up. You want to twist them, and break them free, and apply a steady, even pressure on both sides of it, and just one at a time, pull them up, and then the last one, which would be cylinder number one. Cylinder firing or the cylinder order, number order, goes from one, two, three, and four, starting with the cam side of the engine. Once we've got them out, we're just going to go ahead and lay them aside, out of our way,so please watch our next segment, and we'll cover removing the hoses and clamps."
