on 4/19/2009 This is an excellent instructional video. Very clear. I wish you would add a segment on dealing with flared jeans because turning up the hem on those is not as simple as on straight-leg jeans.

"Okay, so now that I have it pressed up like how I wanted. Now I've marked my inch from the seam that I have sewn, right there, up 1 inch. I'm going to show you how to cut this. And I'm not going to cut right here on the chalk, I'm just going to cut a little bit above it. And I'm going to put my hand inside of this excess fabric and hold it. And if you don't feel confident doing that, you can put some pins in there to hold it all together, but I think I can just pop right in here. And this isn't very much. Like I said, on the other leg, I didn't even need to cut that off. But I'm just doing this just to show you what you would do. I'm going to cut a little bit, maybe like a quarter or 3/8 of an inch away from my chalk line. And don't cut this part. If you accidentally do, you'll have to learn how to patch too. Okay. Then I'm going to just cut right over on top of that seam. And I'm going to show you in the next step why I cut so far away from my chalk line. But since we have this cut off, what I'm going to do- This one isn't very thick because it's laid open and pressed flat, but his one is folded all up, so what I'm going to do, I'm going to go in here, I'm going to clip it, and clip it on the sides. And what I did, I made a little tab, and I just going to cut that off, that's real bulky. So, and that way when I put my, where I want to use the, close this up, it won't be like a whole bunch of fabric on there, so it will be trimmed out, so. In the next clip I'm going to show you how to bind this and tack it up, and we'll do that next."
