"Hey there, we are talking about speaker credibility, and we're just jumping right down the list here. We just finished talking about how competent you are or should be as a speaker. Now we want to talk about character. Now I'm not talking, when I say character I'm not talking about like a movie character, or a character at Disneyland. No, I'm talking about moral character. What are your values? What do you believe in? What do you stand for? Are you fair? Are you honest? Well these are all things that build your character, and one of the things your audience is looking for is similarities to them. A similar character to them. Find out what their values are. Now I'm not saying you need to change your values, but if your values are the same, you need to share that with your audience. That's what they're looking for. Consistency. Consistency builds character. Are you going to show up on time just today? Are you going to show up on time every time? Are you going to be honest just today? Or are you going to be honest all the time? Those are the things that build character. And those are the things that you should not feel bad on any level sharing with the audience. Another way to build character is through positivism. Negative people--their character is questioned. If nothing is good enough, nothing works, nothing is ever enough, is not strong character. You want to find the positive in everything. Find the positive even in the negatives, and that'll strengthen your character. And you want to share this every chance you get. Character."
