Summary: Gluing the ends of the felt is more important then the middle when making a children's craft Velcro-ball dartboard. Construct a Velcro-ball dartboard properly with expert tips in this free arts and crafts video.
"Now let's go ahead and glue the felt that we've just cut to the cardboard, which will be the actual dartboard. It's important when you're gluing the felt that you really want to get the ends more so than the actual middle. You need both the ends and the middle, but for this project if the ends are not glued down securely, they will start folding up, and they can actually start to more and more get peeled up over, off of the cardboard. So it's really important that you have them really nice and secure around the edges so that the project will last awhile and it will--and the entire thing will keep its shape. And then to put a bunch of glue all around in the middle to secure it. But that outer ring is very important. Once we have the glue on the cardboard, we can just take the felt and lay it down. You have a little bit of, a second or two before it actually takes hold depending on the type of glue you're using, to move it around a little bit. But you should have measured it beforehand, before you actually affixed it to the cardboard, that it was actually the right shape and there was no cardboard sticking out. So once the felt is laid down, just work around the edges. Make sure that it's nice and secure. If it's not, you can always just lift up the edges and put a little bit of--another drop of glue. And if it just so happens that the felt does go over the cardboard, you can, at this time, once it's glued on, you can just go around and do some final trimming so that it's all nice and even. This will also help that you won't have any extra felt hanging over, because that could also cause it to eventually just roll up and rip off of the cardboard. So it's good to just trim it, make sure it's nice and tight around the edges, and this is how we apply the first layer of felt onto the cardboard backing."
