"The next thing we're going to do is called the ladder. And the purpose of the ladder is to teach the dogs to watch their feet. A lot of dogs have problems with this at first just because they're not used to watching their feet. So you have to take it at a very slow progression. And it would be just getting them to step through one by one, by one, by one following the treat. As they progress with this and figure out that their foot work is a little bit important to them so they don't fall off our obstacles, you can start speeding it up. And sometimes if you go too fast, you get them making mistakes. So what I would do to correct that mistake is just slow them down. Bring them a little bit slower. Good boy! Good boy! Till where he's getting all of them. Now I have a dog that's starting to watch his foot work. Step. Ready, go. You're getting sloppy. Ready, walk it. Walk, walk, walk, walk, walk. Good boy!"
