Woofers are speakers that put out low frequency sounds. These sounds range from 40 hertz to one kilohertz. These sound devices are named after the noise a dog makes, hence the name woofer. The most common design for a woofer is the electrodynamic driver. A car's stereo system is only as good as its speakers. No one wants fat beats coming out of tinny tweaters. "So let's go over a few types of enclosures on woofers. We'll start with the home, the house for a woofer. We have sealed enclosures. This is for a truck box, for people that don't have much space in their vehicles. And truck. Truck box enclosures, they require certain woofers that require a whole lot of air space. We have a vented enclosure. Much larger volume on a woofer enclosure. More along the lines of made for many varied applications. It'll give you the best of both worlds. It gives you a sealed enclosure, for a quick tight base. But it also vents air to get you those lower, below 50,40, 30 hertz bass notes. That can encompass many different music forms and styles. But it's pretty much recognized as the best all around woofer enclosure these days. Then we have the classic band pass enclosure. This one is a Collins band pass enclosure. Not the average bad pass enclosure that you are used to seeing. Which would have the clear acrylic front, or the plexiglass front. All three of these enclosures are made out of MDF. Enclosure construction material is very important. Because if you have a wet or a damp environment. If you use fiber board or standard plywood, it will rot. Marine grade MDF medite, will allow you to resist water. And those are just some of the few of the basics on enclosures and types of woofers."
