"Hi, this is Sean Hobson, and what we're talking about right now, is how to become the best defender that you can possibly be. One of the best ways you can become a good defender, is to know the offensive player that is across from you. Know his every moves, know what type of a player he is, what type of a dribbler he is, what type of a shooter he is. Is he fast? Is he slow? You know, what are his tendencies? Does he like to work on the right side of the floor, or does he like to work on the left side of the floor? If you know some things about the person that you're playing, you're going to be that much better off. If this guy, if we know that every time he touches the ball, that he's a shooter, then our defender has to know that as soon as he gets the pass to the top of the key, that this guy has to close out on him, close out on him tight, he's got to be on this guy all the time. If this is their number one player, then he's going to have to be a lot more physical with him, keeping him from getting the ball, keeping him from getting shots off, keeping him from driving. If he's one of their players that doesn't do a lot, he doesn't shoot a lot, he doesn't drive a lot, then we can use this defender, to help out with the other defensive players. So, if you know the player that you're guarding, then that's going to help you to not only be more valuable against him, but to be able to help your team to be a better defender all around."
