"One of the things that I enjoy about watercolor is it allows me to paint subjects that I truly love to paint and I had a wise instructor tell me once to paint what you love to paint and learn a lot about it and become proficient in that because one of the things that happens is you become very comfortable with your subject matter, you make all of your mistakes and you learn how to fix them when they do come up and you never get bored. I love cowboys and horses and I travel to rodeos and I take photographs and I work from those photographs. Each piece will tell a story to me when I am painting it along with telling you a story when you look at it and it allows me to remember what happened when I was there, I typically will get a chance to meet people. I enjoy taking the pictures, I enjoy the whole process so if you paint what you love no matter what that is if it is flowers or horses or houses or trains or whatever it is that you truly love to paint it makes it an enjoyable process, you become very proficient at it, people know you as an artist that paints that particular subject matter, they'll seek you out and they'll pay you money for it which is wonderful."
