"Now we've laid out everything in front of us for getting ready to put it all into our survival pack alright. Now most important thing about a survival pack is having a comfortable backpack to keep it all in ok. What I have right here is I have a harness backpack that clips around my waist. This will make it very nice when you are walking for hours on end in hiking. This will take weight off of your back and keep more in front of you and on top of you. Ok so the next thing you are going to want to make sure that you have in a survival backpack is a bunch of different pockets. Now this is a great one, this is an element backpack, this has all different sorts of pockets that I'm going to be keeping all of my survival kit stuff broken up into different things. So I know that all my fire starting stuff is in one pouch, my food is in another one, shelter equipment is in another one, etcetera, etcetera. So the first thing that I want to put into my backpack here, is my tarp. Now this tarp is perfect for shelter making. Ok. This is a very essential thing you can get it for a couple of bucks at Home Depot or Walmart. These are great, also you can double it for a trash bag, you can get a trash bag and use the trash bag as a tarp. Also later on in another show I'm going to teach you how to use a tarp to gather water from rain which can be very useful. I'm going to put that in the big part of my backpack right here. That's going to be my first thing I put in. The next thing that I'm going to put in, my most essential items that you are ever going to want to bring with you in a survival pack is a knife. If you are not going to spend money on anything else for a survival pack, you want to make sure you have a very good knife. What I have right here is a Gerber knife. This is just a flip blade knife, it doesn't matter what, what kind of knife you have as long as it's nice and sharp. So make sure before you are out in the wilderness, sharpen your knife up really good. I keep this one on me at all ti mes. I don't keep it in my survival pack because you just use a knife way to much to keep it somewhere else. Also I have a flashlight. This little Maglite flashlight you can buy for I think ten or fifteen bucks at Home Depot. I keep this one on me as well. It's got a little pouch that I can keep it on my belt buckles. So those are the things that I keep on me, also I keep a bottle of water. This is always good. So a knife, a flashlight and a bottle of water, those are the main things that you are going to need in the wilderness if you have nothing else at all. But now I'm going to show you what else that you can put into your survival pack that's going to make it a lot easier for you to survive in the wilderness."
