Packing Survival Kits for Conditions & Environments

"Before you begin putting together your survival kit, you're going to want to make sure you know where you're going and what your surroundings are going to be and what environment and conditions you're going to have to deal with when you're actually in the wild. So, are you going up into the wilderness? Today, we're going up into the Santa Monica Mountains so I am preparing all of my survival pack to fit into those conditions of mountainous terrain, the wilderness. If you're going into the desert, you're going to be taking many different items with you in your survival pack because it's going to be a lot hotter, it's going to be a lot colder at nights and hot during the day. If you're going into the tropics, you're going to want to make sure you bring a lot of antiviral things, you're going to want to make sure you bring stuff like bug spray. I bring this into the wilderness also but you may need something a little bit stronger if you're going into a tropical region. Things that really depend, if you're going into an ocean environment, if you're going out to sea, you're going to want to make sure that everything you bring with you is waterproof. I always carry waterproof matches on me, however, if you are bringing lighters and stuff into a situation like that, it's not going to work that well because as soon as they get wet, the fluid's not going to light very well.
