"Okay. In all of yoga, there are contraindications, which means there are some conditions under which one should not practice yoga. Everyone, regardless of who they are, should talk to their doctor before they practice any kind of yoga, before they do any kind of physical exercise and that includes Pranayama or breathing techniques. You should not hold your breath if you are pregnant, or if you have heart disease or if you have high blood pressure. If you hold your breath and you are pregnant, you are of course withholding oxygen to your growing baby and we don't want to do that. If you have high blood pressure or heart disease and you speed up or slow down your breath too much, it could throw off a balance of oxygen to your lungs, to your heart because you're already having issues with that. Just be aware, be smart and don't do anything that your doctor does not approve. Thanks!"
