"A really important thing when you're using a good product is a good tool. As a makeup artist, personally, I really think that it makes all the difference. There is really no real thumb, but there are a few helpful hints that I can give you today so you know what tools to look for to really apply your product the best you can. Concealer brushes come in different sizes. I usually like a size that really fits well right under the eye area. I am using a synthetic brush right now that has a lot of give, so you can really curve around the features of the face. And the trick about a synthetic brush or why I think it's a such a good idea to go with the synthetic brush when you're using a cream base product is that, it won't absorb the product, so it will just be a medium to spread the product evenly on the face. If you are using a natural hair brush like sable, for example, it tends to absorb the oils of the cream base product. So I do think that a synthetic brush works best. Look for a nice rounded brush so you can really blend smoothly. Another good idea to blend the product well is to use a latex sponge. These actually come also in all shapes and sizes and they're actually fairly inexpensive, so you really don't have to spend a lot. And finally, really, your hands; your hands are not bad tools at all. The warmth of the finger can actually spread a product much more evenly than maybe any expensive brush or sponge. You can also, luckily they come in different sizes too, so you can maybe go in with your smaller finger to blend smaller areas and maybe with your thumb, you can blend out larger areas of the face. Just make sure you sanitize your hands frequently, because you really don't want to bring in extra bacteria onto the face."
