"Now we will work on the double crocheted stitch which is represented in patterns by the abbreviation DC. You wrap your yarn around the hook, put it through the chain, draw another loop through that chain, wrap another loop around the hook, drawing it through the first two loops on the hook, then you wrap the yarn around the hook one more time and draw it through the last two loops on the hook. That is a double crochet stitch. Now sometimes you will have made a row of single crochet stitches and then the pattern will ask you to do a double crochet stitch on the next row up and usually what you do is make a chain of two first and then you do the double crochet next to it. So that it becomes a uniform looking stitch and that is how we do a double crochet stitch."
