"Today we are talking about backyard safety. Now if you have any sort of steps in your backyard you are going to want to be sure that everything around the area is clear so you do not have anything particularly in doorways, anything in the way that somebody can come out and trip. Either a child or an adult, it is very easy to just you know trip over something and go hitting the ground and it can actually cause some very serious injuries. Do be sure that the area around your door, where your steps are, are clean, free of any sort of hazards that can be on the ground, any sort of tripping hazards and also dry. Sometimes when we hose down our backyards or the sprinklers go off and the steps get wet, it can be very, very slippery and it is very easy for both the young and old alike to slip on there. So you might also want to consider investing in some handrails. That actually is a great way to help avoid some falls but you know at bare minimum be sure that the area around your steps are nice and clear."
