"A very common way to hold a stick is by holding one hand on the top of the stick and using it to poke the puck, it's also known as the poke check. This is very important because it increases a player's range. It's mostly used by defensemen, but it also can be used by a forward, but if a forward's coming down and a defensemen uses the poke check, it increase their range. But make sure you don't keep your hand, one hand on the stick for too long because you're more able to be beat by a deke or, or pass or something, so, it's just for temporary, short term purpose when you want to try to increase your range to get to the puck. So I'm going to show you some examples of the poke check. And that's the poke check."
