"In this section of the butterfly stroke, I'm going to be covering your breathing. So what you're going to want to do is, a lot of people wonder when do you take that breath, because it's almost like a two-step process when you're swimming the butterfly stroke. You're going to have a little kick and a big kick, and you're going to learn that very quickly. When you go into the water, right, your head's in the water, that's going to be your big kick. When you're pulling, now that you're using most of your upper body, as you're bringing your arms towards your chest, that's when you're going to do a little butterfly kick. And that's when you'll come up for air. And it's going to be really quick. So it's going to look something like this. You're in the water, your head's in the water. Right? You already took your breath. As your arms are coming and your shoulders are joining together, like this, and as you're forming that S, you're going to quickly just pop it up, quickly go back in, and then continue going. Okay? And again, when your arms finish completing that S and you're coming up for air, it's going to be when you do the little kick. All right? So there's going to be two kicks, the little and the big kick, that I'll be showing you. And it's on the little kick that you take that breath. I'm going to show you right now when to take a breath. Basically, when you put your arms in the water, as you're pulling is when you're going to want to take a breath when you're doing butterfly. So let me show you. And that's how you do that, when you take a breath."
