"So right now I'm going to do two or three hundred yards warm-up swim. And so then the next part of the warm-up is usually a couple hundred yards of kicking. With the warm-up portion of your swim don't be afraid to include some different strokes. Even though in a triathlon you only use the front crawl, in the interest of varying your training and working on rotation, it's a good idea to include some backstroke and even some breast stroke for flexibility. Kick for the triathlon is something that you need to pay attention to because you need a short, shallow kick. Once you put on your wet suit, your legs are going to float real high in the water and to expend a lot of energy to kick would be very detrimental to the bike and run legs. So, work on just a short, shallow, steady kick."
