"Hi. I'm Tim Cole with Austin Reptile Service and I've been keeping reptiles and amphibians for over forty years. And we're here to talk to you about buying snake cages. Of course, that can be a rather broad subject, depending on your budget, depending on the kind of snake, the amount of space you have -- all the things to be considered when you're buying a cage. Obviously, aquariums can work, but I encourage you to get ones that have the locking tops. Ones that have loose-fitting glass lids or screen tops do not work for snakes. They will get out of these. There are quite a few commercial cage builders when it comes to snake cages. One of my favorite, unfortunately, are not made any more are the Neodesha cages, which is what I've got behind me. These are the arboreal cages. And we've got some others that we use for program cages. Vision cages are very popular and stackable. There are other cages called vorafile, animal plastics and so on. Begin on the Internet. You can find lots of cages to buy for the animal. Some of these hold humidity better than others. These may be things you want to consider when you're buying the cage. Some of them have built-in litter dams, which is always nice. Makes less of a mess. Some of the cages are in rack systems, where you've got various sized containers, such as this shoe box size. Or we can go with what they call a small sweater box size. So, depending on the space you have and the kinds of animals, there's lots of choices out there."
