Veterinarian Pros & Cons

"The pros for me are living a dream basically. This is the only job I have ever dreamed of doing since I was very young and it is very nice to be able to get up every morning and do something that you enjoy doing, that you look forward to doing and there is also just the satisfaction of helping pets and not only helping our pets but seeing the appreciation of the clients if you have a good outcome when you are presented with a very sick pet especially when it is a kid who is afraid that their pet is very sick and that the pet may day as well as the elderly, sometimes that is all they have in their life is a pet and it is a family member. So I think that is a major pro is just the satisfaction of being able to help people and to help animals. If there is a con I would guess that sometimes veterinary medicine is a thankless job. It requires a lot of hard work. It requies a lot of time with your patients and I don't think that people necessarily understand that it takes a toll on the professional. Animals that are very ill that may not have a chance to survive, it takes an emotional hold each day on veterinarians who have bonded with these animals just because they have seen them over and over since they were puppies or kittens and it is very difficult to manage with certain owners because of that separation that may well occur if the animal does not survive."
