In this clip we are going to talk about how to become a correction's officer. A correction's officer is usually one of three different areas. You've got your local, you've got your state and you've got your federal. Each one is very unique because of the type of people that you would be watching over or guarding. If you want to go on a local level I would suggest you contact your local sheriff's department at which time they will give you information about the qualifications that it takes in order to become a correction's officer. It is one whereby you are physically guarding people whether it is maximum security or minimum security. But it is all behind the walls of the jails because those people have committed crimes whereby they have been punished by the individual states at which time they do serve time behind walls. Some correction's officers do provide transport and they may have to transport from the jail to the courts, from the courts, back to the jail and sometimes from the jail to the hospital if this person has been injured. It is a very rewarding position because it is like at the end of a trial, your job is just as responsible as the person who brought them to trial because now your job is to protect them and serve them. So the way you become a correction's officer is contact your local agency, get your application, fill the application out and send it to your local sheriff's department.
