"Let me talk about why I decided to get into the executive protection agent field a long time ago. It was actually the day after President Kennedy was killed in 1963. I was ten years old. When I looked at a news paper clipping the following morning and the Daily News the New York paper depicted the first lady assisting a Secret Service agent in getting him into the vehicle. What the truth was that, that agent was keeping her in the vehicle. That was the truth of the picture but I didn't know it then but my thoughts then at ten. At the age of ten was I wanted to become a Secret Service agent and ensure that the President's safety and security was protected and safeguarded. The way it turned out is twelve years later I was sworn in as a Secret Service agent. In regard to the path I took in order to get into the law enforcement field and the executive protection field it was I pursed and constantly made every attempt to get into a law enforcement position. Alternately I was able to get into the Secret Service as I mentioned but my whole focus while I was in college and I decided to get into law enforcement was to do what ever I could to make myself better prepared to get into the field. I took every type of police entry exam that I could get my hands on. I became focused and dedicated to do one thing and that was to become a law enforcement officer and that's what I did at age twenty two. As in many professions, people do have not a tendency but there are occasions where people get into the field for the wrong reasons. Executive protection work is not a field you want to get into for the wrong reasons. You are getting into a field where you are protecting the life of another individual. Their life, their safety, their families safety, their security depends on you and your expertises. If you get into this because you want to make money and you want to make a lot of money. If you get into it for those financial reasons you run the risk on not being the most qualified individual. The most competent individual in the field because you're doing it for the wrong reasons."
