"This is Patrick Munro, Financial Advisor, talking about why should people save money. Saving money is basically what the constitution of the United States is built around. Any great country is built around the savings of its people because that's what builds a country. Unfortunately we live in a society of immediate gratification and a lot of Americans are not saving anything, or in fact the rate of savings is actually going negative where people are going into debt through credit cards and various other instruments. This is a function of immediate gratification and a lot of marketing is being put upon folks to have the very latest thing and various things of that nature. Other countries really put us to shame when it comes to savings. The Japanese save clearly 20 percent of their money, Canadians are also very good at saving money as well. European countries, with a few exceptions, also save and invest for the future. So if you get in the habit of saving money as well, you too, going forward, will have a better quality of life. This is Patrick Munro, Financial Advisor."
