"Hi, my name is Chell Garcia-Trias and I'm a modern dance teacher in Austin, Texas. And I'm going to show you a Modern Dance butterfly stretch. So first I'm going to bring my feet, the palms of my feet together and then I'm going to bring them a little closer to my body just where it's comfortable. So for me that's here, for you it might be out to here, wherever you're comfortable is just fine. I'm going to rock back and forth and I'm going to feel my sits bones pushing into the ground. My sits bones are at the top of my legs and you should very easily feel them pushing into the ground if you rock back and forth. If you don't feel them, then you probably tucked in your stomach a little bit and you want to push up, up through your back trying to think of flattening your back and pushing up through the top of your head. And now, I'm just going to bring my head down to my toes but I'm going to do that by imagining a waterfall that's coming up and over. So, I'm going to continue to feel my sits bones pushing into the ground. like the base of the waterfall and the top is going to come up and over and reach towards my toes. So for you this might be where you're most comfortable or you might all the way down towards your toes, wherever you're comfortable is great. You just going to sit here and rest. You can keep your hands on your feet. And when you're ready, you're going to push through your sits bones to bring the waterfall back up, all the way through the top of your head. So that's a typical modern dance butterfly stretch."
