Hi! My name is Chell Garcia-Trias and I am a modern dance instructor in Austin, Texas. I am going to show you how to do some leg extensions while laying on the floor, the way that I would do them, so that you can learn how to really work within your hip and within your own mobility. So, first I am going to lay flat on the floor. I am going to bring my heels together and my feet together. Then, I am going to let my toes drop open a little bit and rest my feet. Now, I am just going to push through my heel and drop both of my hips and reach through my heel. Through my heel. Through my heel. Through my heel. Through my heel. All the way up, to where I am reaching up for the ceiling. And then, down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down. And, if I want to, I will point my toe and reach up, up, up. And, down. And, I will do each foot. And, I would do this, I would probably do maybe ten on each side. Or, twenty depending on where you are comfortable. And, once I am comfortable with those, I might also go into passe. Point my toe and bring my toe to my knee. Making sure that this knee is not dropping too far towards the ground, but it is just staying within its proper alignment as far as where my turn out is. And then, I am going to reach up with my toe. Up, up, up, up, up. And, down. Reach up, up, and down. So, this is going to strengthen my legs and also help me with my turnout so that I am really moving within my own abilities as far as turnout goes. That is the way I would do some leg extensions on the floor in modern dance to the front.
