"Hi, my name is Chell Garcia-Trias, and I'm a modern dance instructor in Austin Texas. I'm going to show you how to do a forced arch and how to walk in a forced arch. So first of all I'm going to have my feet in parallel position, where they're firmly planted in the ground, and they're just about an inch or two apart. I'm going to come up into releve on my toes, really lifting through the tip of my head, and then I'm going to bend my knees, which is going to force the arch. So if you looked to the side, when you come up in releve, and then you come down, it forces the arch in your toes. And to walk in this, I'm just going to, I'm going to use the muscles in my legs to really move through it. And I'm going to bend while I walk, bend while I walk; so you can walk forward and back. But I'm forcing the arch. It looks really crazy when you're dancing around in modern dance, people tend to think it's really interesting to see. And the further down you go, the more forced the arch becomes. You really have to reach back with your tail bone, and forward with the crown of your head while you're doing it, so that you don't lose your balance and you don't fall down. So that's a really nice way to do a forced arch walk, or to force your arch in modern dance."
