Hi my name is Dan Schmidt from the Chinese Martial Arts Center in Seminole and today in this clip we are going to be showing you the proper way to perform the wrist and elbow lock. So if somebody grabs you crosswise right to right or left to left the best thing to do is take your left hand and trap their hand and place it on top. At the same time you are going to turn out and grab the wrist, you are going to step in behind their leg and come over the top with your elbow this way, tilt their wrist up, press the elbow down, straight in, lean in and over on top of their elbow so when they grab don't just try to immediately twist, you've got to trap, come up, twist, make sure you have a firm grasp, step in, elbow on top and press straight down. It is very important that you don't try to do this, don't try to press straight down because it is not going to do anything. You have to pull up on the wrist as the elbow pushes down on top of their elbow. So they grab, trap and twist at the same time, grab, come over the top, and if you notice the leg press their knee against their knee, press straight in and pull up, press straight down. From here if you keep pressing you will snap the elbow joint in half. So once again they grab, trap, twist, come over the top, straight down. That's the proper way to perform the wrist and elbow lock.
