Video Transcript

"Hi my name is Dan Schmidt from the Chinese Martial Arts Center in Seminole and today we are going to be performing the two handed upward flower. So you want to take the staff and you want both hands right in the middle of the staff. Start with your feet comfortably. You don't want to be too wide and you don't want to stand up too narrow. Bend the knees slightly so you are comfortable and keep the hands straight out in front of the chest. Don't bend your arms too close and don't lock the arms out, just natural right here. Focus on the top portion of the staff and you want it to go down to your left side, come straight up and down behind you on your right side, then twist straight up. You want to keep the staff very very close to your body. You should be able to hear it whistling in your ears, almost brushing your clothes. So front on the left, up, back on the right, and straight back up. Then you want to speed it up and use your knees and twist side to side. Then you can slow it down and speed back up and let the arms flow naturally, don't try to be rigid and twist, bend the arms and twist side to side and twist and then you can stop it like this. That is the two handed upward flower."
