Video Transcript

"Hi my name is Dan Schmidt from the Chinese Martial Arts Center in Seminole and today in this clip we are going to be discussing the single handed downward flower. So with this type of flower you want to start right in the middle of the staff and hold it straight out. You want to keep your hand shoulder height and from here you want to turn your body sideways and keep your left hand on your hip. This is how it looks. You are going to be going like this, straight down at either side of the body and then you stop. So how that is done is you focus on the very top of the staff. You want the top to go down and then straight up to the top of your body like this and then you want it to go straight down on the outside of your body and straight up. Very little arm movement should be used. When you do it fast you are going to be using mainly your wrist so straight down in front this way, keep it close to the body, straight up, straight down to the outside and straight up again. So when you perform it fast it's like this, front and back. That is the single handed downward flower."
