"Hello I'm Sifu Mallon with the Clearwater Kung Fu Center. This is my assistant Melissa and this is Kickboxing. The Kickboxing technique we're working on is using our legs, this is called a Rear Front Kick. Now front kick describing where the kick is pushing outward. Okay. So this kick is kicking right to the front of the body. This is a thrusting kick. So this is, allows your leg to lift and to thrust outward and downward. Contact point for this kick, a lot of people don't really concentrate too much on what part of their foot is hitting the target, especially when you're kicking the air, you don't really have any resistance back. We want to develop this kick to use the ball of your foot. So if you go up on your tippy toes slightly and you curl your toes upward, so this is pushing the ball of your foot forward. This is the same way as if you took your hand and perform the hand strike with the heel of your hand. Okay. So this is a very strong point of your foot and impacts, okay, very, very small so that you have a lot of power going into a small spot. Demonstrating the kick first, I'll go through normal speed, I start from my fighting stance, the body is nice and loose, elbows down. I pick my rear knee up, I allow my hips to bend and throw the front kick. As you'll notice I'm not letting my hands pull down, your body wants to go like this, okay, but you want to keep your hands upward. So this is Rear Front Kick. "Melissa move forward as we demonstrate it a few times", point some things out. The hands stay up, the front foot, you can turn the foot forward pointing right where you want to kick. Bring the weight forward, lift the knee, pull the hips up, throw the kick out, step down and back. Now, throwing the kick out and back is one way, right, you can also throw the kick and step forward, "Melissa throw the kick, boom, step forward". And this is one way to advance with the kick. This is called Rear Front Kick, Kickboxing."
