"Hello, this is Sifu Mallan with the Clearwater Kung Fu Center. This is my assistant Melissa and this is kick boxing. Now a lot of times when beginning jump rope, they have a difficulty starting it. So most people try to start jumping rope this way. They put it behind them and they just start trying to swing and hop. O.k., for someone who's been doing this a long time that's kind of easy to do. But as a beginner it becomes kind of difficult. So I'm going to show you a way to get what's called the cross swing arm open. So this is a transition into doing your regular jump rope. You start with your feet together, you hold the rope, one, two, both hands. You're going to start with your cross swing. Make sure the rope is nice and tight. From here you just open the arms and let the rope hit down by your feet. I'll have Melissa demonstrate it a few times so that you can see. O.k., so she's holding the rope with both hands. At the same time she's going to bend the knees a little bit. Keep your feet close together Melissa. And now start with your regular cross swing. O.k., once she gets that cross swing going she's going to go ahead and go through a four count. One, two, three, four, arms open, let it hit your feet. One more time Melissa. One, two, three, four, arms open, let it hit your feet. O.k., this time Melissa go ahead and do arms open now step through in to the jump. Jump. Good. This is cross swing arms open jump rope basic kick boxing."
