"You know, sparklers can add fun to any event or holiday party. Hi, I'm Captain Joe Bruni, with over three decades of firefighting, and emergency medical service experience. What I'm going to talk about, is the safety aspects, when it comes to children and sparklers. The common consumer firework, known as the sparkler, should never be placed in the hands of children, under five years of age. They don't understand the potential functioning of the sparkler, and the potential burn injury of the sparkler. Children over five years of age, should be taught the safety aspects, of using the common sparkler. Some of these safety aspects include, keeping the sparkler at an arms length, away from the body, because they burn very hot, emit showers of sparks, and can reach temperatures up to eighteen hundred degrees. Never wave the type of sparkler, throw, or point at another individual. These are the safety aspects that young children, above the age of five, should be taught, when handling sparklers, and of course, sparklers should always come under the close supervision, of some type of responsible adult. I'm Captain Joe Bruni. Stay safe, and we'll see you next time."
