"You know every year consumer fireworks cause a significant amount of injuries in the United States. Hi I'm Captain Joe Bruni with over three decades of firefighting and emergency medical service experience. Injuries from consumer fireworks are one of the leading causes of injuries especially during the fourth of July holiday of every summer. Injuries are usually caused on the hand and finger from things such as firecrackers as the leading cause. The second leading cause is something as simple as the sparkler. Which is used primarily at parties and by children. Sparklers can reach anywhere from twelve hundred to eighteen hundred degrees. That's a very hot item to place in a child's hand. As the second leading cause of injuries, obviously it is the burn injury that causes the biggest problem with the sparkler. Keep all sparklers under close adult supervision at all times. And remember they are the second leading cause of fireworks injury every year. I'm Captain Joe Bruni stay safe and we will see you next time."
